Everybody read the word artificial intelligence (AI) and thinks of course about computers. It is true, but AI is not just about computers and machines. From the computer science of view, AI can be understood as a programmable machine.

AI has many meanings, although it is one thing with different functions. It is a developed computer with a related system made of human intelligence and only has performances beyond the human capacities. AI can make decisions in logical relations and without influence of emotions. It can translate languages or recognize speeches. It can produce in high speed, but in precisely quality.

In order to understand exactly the term artificial intelligence, we have first to understand what is intelligence?

As precise we describe the human intelligence, so a machine can simulate the human intelligence. Intelligence is the way how we think which is influenced by our knowledge. Intelligence is to observe things or situation with analytical thinking. This can only obtained with researches in diverse parts of science to learn deeply about human. We need to learn exactly how our mind can think, how our emotions respond which leads to improve new areas of emotional intelligence. An AI system is able to interpret data and learn from external data to solve specific tasks. Therefore, we need to describe our thinking precisely and write it step by step with the assistance of algorithmic rules which can be realized as programs.

Development of Artificial Intelligence

AI exists long years ago and since 1950. There are many old science fiction books about robots and automated processing machines. It seems to be an important goal and wishes for human beings to make creatures similar to them. But what is the different between machines and human beings?

AI includes different things together. It is about thinking, action and perception. In order to make an idea real in the technology, we need models. By AI, we need models of human thinking. The human thinking is based on explaining the past to understand the present, in order to predict the future of certain subject area. It sounds philosophical, but it is the mathematical kind of thinking. Based on the fact that computers are based on numerical mathematics, we need at first a mathematical models for human thinking. This is the simplified idea of AI programming. Many algorithmic programs were developed to simulate the human thinking. This is a big work and based on many researches, as well in technical subjects as in social or emotional intelligence.

Developing of Robots

It seems that people are not satisfied with the machines alone and it is not enough for them to create a machine which makes work for them more efficient, cheaper and quicker. They request more than this. People wish to create a machine that can think, feel like human. That is the main idea of AI, which many do not recognize. That is why robots named humanoid are developed similar to humans. They have social properties besides their logical ones like talking with people, recognize their mood through the voice or can recognize as well if someone sad or happy by scanning their face. Such robots have a big popularity in the media and is a real example how AI is far developed in many aspects.

Robots is a big area of AI and the most important one. There are different kind of robots. There are the industrial, the toys, the humanoid or the general software robots. All these types differ in the used technologies and the area they are used for.

The industrial robots are the old once that was used in factories for long time ago. It started with simple machines for automation of processing in order to create products precise, quick and reduce the human work. This was the first AI revolution that create workplace at that time because it improves the industrialization. But will the next generation of AI reduces work places?

The humanoid robots are aimed to be used as real replacement of humans. It may be set in work instead of a person, such as assistant to welcome people in companies, hotels or shops. It can be a health assistant too.

Although many people like to see such robots in the media like the media robot Sofia, but most people are scared from the AI. They think that AI means that the machines will replace the human everywhere and naturally in their jobs likewise. People are fear from the mass of unemployment through the AI.
